Born in Ireland in 1979, Andy Devane studied painting at Limerick School of Art and Design(LSAD) in the late 1990s.

Since moving to Italy in 2000 the principal subject of his paintings has related to the city of Rome. His work combines the factual with the fantastical and is painted in an illustrative style.

Devane staged his first solo exhibition in Rome in 2005. He held an exhibition in Dublin's Italian Institute of Culture in 2008 followed later that year with a show at the Pontifical Irish College in the Italian capital.

In 2010 he exhibited in London and his most recent solo show took place in Rome in May 2011. He is currently working towards his next Rome show in autumn 2016.
